Tim Walton edged fellow Port McNeill driver Terry Mackay to win the overall points championship in the recently completed Rumble on the Runway drag race series at Port McNeill Airport.
Walton, who won the overall Pro class title, amassed 390 points in the five-race series. Mackay, the Super Pro winner, totaled 360. Ron Clark of Port Alberni was third overall and tops in the Sportsman class with 350 points, narrowly edging Collin Shaw of Port Hardy, who was fourth with 340.
Another Port Hardy driver, rookie Chris Beatty, cracked the top 10 with 290 points to place ninth.
The top 10 finishers in the points series will split $5,000 in cash and other prizes, at a wrap-up gala to be held at the Port McNeill Legion Hall next month.
