Warriors’ Ondrik joins Wolfpack

White Rock Christian Academy guard/forward Will Ondrik will be taking his talents back to the B.C. Interior next season, after signing this week with the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack.

Ondrik, a Vernon native who moved to the Peninsula a year ago, will bring scoring and versatility to the TRU lineup – as a six-foot-seven guard, he will present matchup issues for a number of smaller opponents.

“He’s a six-foot-seven kid who is very skilled,” said Wolfpack head coach Scott Clark. “He can do a lot of things… he can shoot, he can bounce it, pass it and is a guy who has a big upside.”

Last season with WRCA, Ondrik, 18, led the Warriors in scoring, averaging 18 points-per-game, while also averaging seven rebounds and four assists.

WRCA coach John Dykstra said Ondrik’s ability to play different positions should help him adjust to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) level.

“Will was our go-to guy this season… (he) played all five positions for us,” Dykstra said.

“I believe Will has the potential to one day be a CIS all-star-calibre player. One on one, he’s as good a player as you’ll find in the CIS.”
