The West Kootenay Speed Skating Club won six medals at the fifth annual Ice Breaker Meet in Salmon Arm last weekend.
Six athletes made the trip, with each one medalling as well as earning personal bests in each of their five races.
Kootenay skaters went 1-2 on the division five podium, with Luke Platje winning gold, followed by Ian Walgren in second and Oliver Ludwar in fourth (medals were handed out for fourth place).
Berand Platje meanwhile won silver in division one, Peter Plaunt took bronze in the division seven masters’ group, and Charlie Ludwar finished fourth in division six.
The speedskaters train every Monday and Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Nelson and District Community Complex.
