A 3-0 win over Lakehill FC on Saturday allowed Westcastle United to remain one of just two undefeated teams in Vancouver Island Soccer League Division 2 play this season.
Friday’s night’s victory saw Jusufi Arbnor score twice and Max Thompson pick up the shutout for the West Shore-based side, who improved their record to 1-0-3 on the season. Adam Almeida also tallied in the win.
Westcastle hosted the match at Goudy Field due to the Westshore Rebels football semifinal playoff game played on United’s regular home field at Westhills Stadium.
The win followed three consecutive 1-1 ties for Westcastle, which sits in a tie for fourth with Lakehill and Prospect Lake, three points back of leaders Cowichan United and Vic West. United travels to Cowichan for a game this Friday.
Meanwhile, Juan de Fuca’s Div. 3A side is at the top of the table with a 5-0 record.
They bested Cowichan Red Arrow FC 3-0 on Saturday at Royal Bay secondary, paced with a three-goal performance from Brent Cameron. Chris O’Hara picked up the shutout in net. Juan de Fuca heads to Campbell River to play Cermaq City Wave FC this Saturday.
Locally this Sunday, the Div. 4A Juan de Fuca Pilgrims take on Juan de Fuca FC at the West Shore Parks and Recreation field at 2:15 p.m.
