Western Speedway heads into last month of season

Racing season at Western Speedway continues to roll heading into the final stretch in September.

So far this season, Kyle Cottam is top of the leader board for stock cars, with 700 points after four weekends of racing. Cottam is being chased by Cody Aumen, who is six points back.

Wade Bland leads late model drivers with 497 points, 17 points ahead of second place Gary Smith.

George Liberatore has a commanding lead in demo cars, with 456 points — well above second place Kirk Peacey who has 327 points. George Haywood leads the demo truck pack with 496 points, with Cody Sadler sitting in second at 411 points.

Over Labour Day long weekend, the track hosts the mayhem and fun that is the Wilson and Proctor North American Big Rig racing.

Josh “The Crusher” Beckel will be there on both Friday and Saturday nights with his daredevil stunts, including a truck jump on Saturday. Also running will be the bomber invitational, mini figure 8s and a truck obstacle course.

On Sept. 8, racing includes non-wing sprints, stock cars, oldtimers and dwarf cars.

On Saturday, Sept. 29, the track closes off the season by hosting its championship night featuring demolition cars and trucks plus bombers, a mini figure 8 and the tough truck championship. Check out westernspeedway.net for ticket information.
