Jaime Morgan, Brad Aumen, Brian Calderwood and Daryn Cahill were crowned champions in their respective divisions in one of the final action-packed evenings of racing at Western Speedway for the season.
Saturday evening’s racing included the Demo Cars and Trucks, Bombers, Hornets, Claimers and Mini Figure 8’s, with special events including a Car Jump by Wayne “The Train” Hart, Boat Races, Total Destruction and a fireworks display.
Going into the Demo Car and Truck main event, Morgan led the points standings over Brandon Young by just 40 points. Morgan started in the third row, with Young one spot ahead on the outside of the second row.
Young surged to the front but was quickly overtaken by Keith Hansen, with Morgan dropping back to seventh. But on lap seven, Hansen blew a front tire and gave the lead back to Young.
One lap later, Cody Young nudged his way past his brother for the lead and went on to claim his first main event win of the season.
Behind him, Hansen managed to charge back up to second, with Morgan finishing third, high enough for him to clinch the championship. Brandon and Shawn Young rounded out the top five, in that order.
