Wheelbarrows of winnings

barriere, golf

Considering the weather we have had this past week I have come to the realization that we Tuesday Night Ladies are among the Chosen Ones.  Who would have thought at noon on Tuesday that we would be golfing in such lovely weather in the evening?  Even the mosquitoes didn’t show up.

And there were four ladies who were chosen more than the rest.  Donna Salle needed a wheelbarrow to carry home her winnings.  She won the pot for scoring a deuce on Hole #4; the pot for scoring a birdie on Hole #9; the Barr-K Treats certificate for a long drive in 2 on Hole #5 and the River Adventure prize for using least number of putts (12).  Mel Freeston, another regular in our foursome scored a marvellous 42 to win low gross in Flight #2.  She had a KP in 3 on Hole #1 to win the Estylo Hair Design prize; a KP on Hole #4 to win the Royal LePage prize; a long drive in 2 on Hole #5 to win the Station House Restaurant prize; and another KP on Hole #6 to win the Ron Wallace trucking prize.  Cathy Chornlesky won low gross for Flight #3 while also picking up prizes on Hole #3 for a long putt (Bodi Mekanix) and Hole #5 for a long drive in 2 (Barriere Irly Centre).  Deb Winiski is the last of the Fab Four.  She had a long drive on #2 to win the Barriere A & W prize; a long putt on Hole #3 to win the Knight’s Inn prize and followed with the dubious honour of winning the Rest in Peace prize from North Thompson Funeral Home on Hole #7.  And being a generous person, she did share that honour with teammates Helen Fraser and Barb Smith.  By the by Barb, thanks for the scrumptious dessert.

Other winners included Carol Hindle won scored a fantastic 42 to win Low Gross in Flight #1.  Low net winners were Karen Peterson for Flight #1 and Vicki Hoffer for Flight #2.  Pat Carr had a long drive on #1 (AG Foods).  Tanya Desjarlais had a KP on Hole #4 (Stamer Logging) and a long putt on Hole #9 (Country Store Antiques).  Karen Peterson had a KP on Hole #6 (Carman and Barb Smith) and Deb Rainer had a KP in 2 on Hole #7 (Jul’re by Lynda).  Lorretta Gammel had a long putt on #8 (Barriere Massage) while the long putts on Hole #9 were made by Cori Walker (Rainer Custom Cutting) and Helen Fraser (North Thompson Star Journal).  Ellen Burt (Vicki Hoffer’s visiting mom) took the Val-Bella Studio prize for most putts.   A number of ladies took home door prizes.

I took home absolutely nothing… but the memories of an enjoyable time spent with good friends.

Just two weeks until Christmas in July night.  The date is July 26 and it begins with a 5:30 shot gun start with a full turkey dinner following the golf.  It is a four person scramble.

This format lends itself nicely to new golfers.  Book your team and carts soon.
