One goal over their final 120 minutes of hockey spelled the end of the Langley Rivermen.
The Rivermen lost 3-1 in game five to the Wenatchee Wild on Friday night at the George Preston Recreation Centre. The victory gave the Wild a 4-1 series win in the BCHL best-of-seven playoff series.
Wenatchee had won game four 5-0, one night after a wild 7-6 overtime victory.
In game five, Colin Burston and Blake Christensen scored a goal apiece in the first two periods.
Langley’s Cameron Ginnetti gave the Rivermen some life with a power-play goal midway through the third but that was the only puck to elude the Wild’s Chase Perry, who finished with 25 saves.
Wenatchee’s Kyle Stephan scored into the empty net in the final seconds.
The teams had split the two games by 4-3 scores, with Wenatchee winning their game in overtime.
The Wild now face the Chilliwack Chiefs in the Mainland Division finals.
