Tier 1 and 3 of Comox Valley Mixed Slo-Pitch had the year’s first rainout last Tuesday so not many games were played in those divisions.
Banner Landscaping Brewers crushed the Sunlife Slammers 23-5 on the strength of Duayne Hemmingway’s bat as he went 5-5. Courtenay Kia kept pace with a 9-6 win over the Beachwood Café Ducks. The Mariners took out the Heaters 16-9 and Balls Deep won 15-9 against the Whistle Stop Madness.
Tier 2
The only unbeaten team in the league was finally stopped as the Angels knocked off the Wild 14-13. The Wrecks pounded Berard’s Plumbing 24-1 and Nissan Titans were 27-11 winners over Applebee’s Average Joes.
The Wild rebounded from their only loss of the year with a convincing 18-4 victory over Berard’s Plumbing. Nissan Titans kept Berard’s winless this season with a 17-9 win. Peanut Gallery got by the Angels 6-5 while Mission Possible Shockers stopped the Wrecks 12-8.
Tier 3
The Steamers nipped the VIIC Vikings 6-5 to take over first place in Tier 3. In another close game the Dirty Birds squeaked by Applesauced 10-9. The Wankees beat the Elks Zombies 14-10 while the Brew Jays were 11-7 winners against the Oyster River Rats.
Tier 4
Billy D’s Dodgers continue to lead Tier 4 with a convincing 27-3 win over the Coco Loco’s. G & G Instigators had their winning streak stopped as they fell 7-5 to Merit Home Furniture Cruisers. The Instigators had another close one against the C.V. Marine Misfits but prevailed 12-11. The Cruisers easily beat the Loco’s 19-4. Komox Grind surprised RPM Electric Blue Thunder 12-7. The Grind also split a doubleheader winning 26-3 over the Pacers but falling 20-17 to the Misfits.
Tier 5
The Malfunctions continue to lead Tier 5 as they recorded a pair of wins, 13-10 over the T-Birds and 16-12 against the Major Ballers. Cory Kozier banged out two homers and Simon Pinfield 1 as the EZ Ryders were 14-10 winners over the Ballers.
Jordan Laverdure hit a two-run homer while Simon Pinfield and Josh Maurice banged out triples as the Ryders dropped the TULS 11-2. TULS beat the Swingers 13-7. Slippery Kittens dropped both ends of a doubleheader, losing 12-5 to the Swingers and falling 13-10 to the Contenders.
