Williams Lake Skating Club’s winter showcase highlights skills

Members of the Williams Lake Skating Club were busy spreading holiday cheer during the team’s annual Winter Skating Showcase.

Held Dec. 20 on rink one at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex, parents and family members, friends and peers were treated to a delightfully festive show featuring all of the WLSC’s age groups, ranging from CanSkate to competitive senior team members.

Group performances from the senior girls, the junior academy, the ‘elves,’ and the ‘snowmen,’ all had the near-full stands at the CMRC clapping and cheering, while solo skates from Ella Kruus, Kaelin Mackinnon, Olivia Holloway, Georgia Jacobson, Kolbi Sterengen, Bailey Jones, Emma Penner, Julie Bowman, Ryanne Jones, Faith Ritchot, Reagan West, Sydney Mason and Camdyn Cochran, plus a graduated senior-club member trio featuring Amanda Lane, Dawn Henley and Alanna Walters highlighted the event.

The WLSC will be back on the ice Jan. 5 in preparation for the upcoming 2019 CNC Regional Championships — this year being held in Quesnel Jan. 18-20.

After that, the team will travel to Dawson Creek from Feb. 8-10 for the 2018 Totem Interclub.
