Ryan Williamson named Coach of the Year by North Okanagan Minor Lacrosse Association.

A former Armstrong Shamrock roadrunner, Ryan Williamson spends his extra time these days coaching in the North Okanagan Minor Lacrosse Association.

The 30-something Williamson has been named Coach of the Year after coaching the Mini Tykes and Tykes last season.

“He is excellent with the kids,” said newly-elected minor lacrosse president Amy Drabiuk. “Ryan’s enthusiasm for the game is contagious to the kids he coaches, and when you go out and watch his practice, you can see they are learning the game by having fun.

“He coached multiple sports (also minor fastball) last year, but did not hesitate to help. Ryan has been a big part in building our youngest age group registration numbers back up.”

“Denise and Trenna were both huge helps with the provincials we hosted, and gave numerous hours of their time,” said outgoing president Lolly Barr. “Braden and Liam both reffed numerous games this year and were both were chosen to ref during the Pee Wee provincials, and did an impressive job for BCLA.”

The graduating Midget Players of the Year were Ryan Sarazin (A division) and Zach Heimstra (B) as chosen by the head coaches of their teams.

“They were chosen for various reasons, including their skills, personalities, dedication and sportsmanship to the sport and their teammates.”
