It’s been a long road of recovery for Camosun College Charger Michaela Witte, who suffered a torn ACL last summer and was sidelined for close to a year.
The former Kwalikum Secondary Kondor, who graduated in 2014, has been back on the hardwood preparing for her second season at Camosun and is happy to be back in action with her team.
“It’s very exciting,” Witte said. “We just had our first two practices this week and the knee is feeling awesome so far.”
“Luckily I was able to start doing things gradually a little earlier than expected because I was set up with some good physiotherapy,” she said. “So it’s been good to get back at it.”
After spending most of her first season on the bench before the injury took place in the off-season, Witte has her sights set on some more playing time this season to go along with being fully confident with her injury behind her.
“Sitting on the sideline isn’t where I want to be,” Witte said. “I’ve been spending a lot of time in the weight room, getting stronger and working on my physio exercises.”
“It’s been good, spending time back in the gym, getting shots up and doing lots of sprints too.”
