Women golfers enjoy challenge of white tees

Thursday, June 16, is going to be a special night at the golf course

It was a small group of women that came out to golf at Lacarya on June 2. We were golfing off the white tees, which made things a little more challenging.

In flight 1, Carol Hindle won for her low gross score and Madeline Klassen won for low net. Madeline also won long drive and Lois Van Damme won for longest putt. Carol won for the longest drive in two shots.

In flight 2, Jane Olson won for low gross and Abbey Bates won for low net. Abbey also won KP on hole #5 and long drive in two shots. Linda Fitz won long drive and Jane won for longest putt.

In the challenges open to both flights, Abbey won for longest putt, Carol had the least putts and Debbie Pearce won for most honest putter. Debbie also won the deuce pot which has been building for awhile. She took home a nice chunk of change. And finally Stephanie Turner won a golf ball to replace the ball that is RIP in the pond on hole #1.

Thursday, June 16, is going to be a special night at the golf course. We will have a four-person team scramble with a shotgun start at 4:30. There is a sign up sheet at Lacarya or phone 250 587 6100.

Special note: Any ladies who come out to play in this event who have not been to a ladies golf night in at least three years will not be charged a green fee or the regular $10 fee for Ladies Night.

Dinner will be $15. If we have 20 or more golfers out there will be a smorg dinner and if not, we will be ordering off the menu. There will be prizes and plenty of fun. Hope you can join us.

Thank you to our Lacarya Ladies Golf Club sponsors: Buy-Low, Century 21, Home Hardware, Lacarya, Painted Turtle, Pharmasave and Wells Grey Inn.
