Barriere Women’s Basketball is up and running on Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at Barriere Secondary School.

Organizer Kim Fennell reports, “We had 32 women sign up, ages 19 to mid 50’s.  Some women had never played basketball before, and others hadn’t played since high school.”

Fennell says that on average 15 women get together each Monday.  “We review rules, positions, defence and plays.  After a warm up and group stretch we break into teams to scrimmage for an hour and a half.  Players sub in and out as needed as everyone is at a different fitness level. It’s friendly, social and fun.”

Fennell encourages women to come out and see what it’s all about, saying new players are always welcome.

There is a $10 fee to cover insurance, then either a $5 drop-in, or $30 for the season which ends in March.
