Abbotsford’s Magnuson Ford women’s team qualified for the Provincial B Cup semifinal after knocking off Prospect Lake 2-1 on Sunday.
The local side scored both their goals just before halftime, and both came off the boot of Megan Webster. In the 40th minute, Shandelle Steine sent the ball through to Danielle Schmidt, who in turn fed a perfect pass for Webster to bury it from 20 yards out and open the scoring.
Webster made it 2-0 four minutes later on a penalty kick after she was taken down hard in the area.
Prospect Lake got on the board in the 65th minute, but the back line of Sarb Dhillon, Donna Pinning, Brittlyn Nickel and Lauren Kruger and goalkeeper Karlee Arden kept them at bay from that point.
This Sunday, the ladies travel to Vancouver Island to play Gorge FC, with the winner receiving a berth in the Provincial Cup Final in Victoria on May 11.
