Mission’s Victoria Seal is once again a provincial gold medalist.
The Grade 11 Mission Secondary student dominated at the B.C. Secondary Schools Wrestling Championships, which occurred in Port Alberni from March 1 to 3.
She was the lone Roadrunner to compete at the event, and defeated Riverside’s Ryann McCready 12-0 in the female 57 kilogram division’s first-place match to take home the gold.
Seal beat out five other competitors in the division to earn first place.
She also took home top spot in the Upper Fraser Valley zone championships, which took place at Abbotsford’s W. J. Mouat Secondary on Feb. 17. She bested four other competitors in the 57 kg division at that event to earn first. Seal’s efforts also helped Mission Secondary place third overall in total points among all schools at that event.
It has been a strong start to 2018 for Seal, as she also won her division at the 2018 Miri Piri Wrestling Championship in Abbotsford in January.
