Yankees tops in Whalley

The North Langley Yankees built an early lead and never looked back to capture top spot at the Whalley May Day long weekend baseball tournament.

The team of 9/10 year-olds went 5-1 in the round robin to advance to the championship game.

They were matched up against the Hastings Athletics in the final, were the Yankees jumped ahead 6-1. Hastings pulled to within a run, before North Langley tacked on some breathing room and won 9-6.

Andy Jang was named player of the game.

The team is made up of:

Sensho Hung, Richard Midgley, Dawson Jeske, Josh Sharp, Josh Diebert, Daniel Hoodikoff, Tyler Harrison, Brayden Warburton, Dannon Sturn, Bradley Lumsden, Caleb Kauffmann, Tyler Henningson and Andy Jang.

They are coached by Scott Hoodikoff and Brent Deibert.
