Young curlers in Qualicum Beach

Qualicum Beach teams did well against Vancouver Island-wide competition

The Qualicum and District Curling Club played host to 62 young curlers last weekend, ages 7 to 17, who took to the ice in Qualicum Beach from all across Vancouver Island.

The novice division was won by Qualicum Beach team with skip Isaac Brightland, third Tristan Rempel, second Rowan Brightland and lead Jacob Hewer.

Second place went to the Nanaimo team of skip Merissa Hornby, third Keira Dickie, second Samantha Maughan and lead Jace Brahniuk.

The Qualicum Beach team of Tyler Weirsma (skip), and teammates Duncan Gallop and Will Roberts won the competitive division.

Second place went to Jackson Marshall (skip), Ben Meldrum (third), Jackson Nowak (second) and lead Eli Bodnaruk (lead) from Qualicum Beach.
