Young soccer stars wanted for prospect program

Chilliwack FC has open tryouts in late June for a program that focuses on advanced development of young soccer players.

Chilliwack FC is holding tryouts in late June for its Fall Prospects program.

An advanced development program for U-8, U-9 and U-10 boys and girls born 2004-2006, the program introduces fundamentals (passing, receiving, dribbling, turning and shooting) at a young age.

Additional skills (attacking, defending and positional play) are added throughout the fall in twice-weekly practices.

Tryouts for U-8’s are June 24 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Mt. Slesse middle school.

Tryouts for U-9’s are June 26 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Evans elementary school.

Tryouts for U-10’s are June 27 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at a site to be determined.

The program includes evaluation games against other Fraser Valley soccer associations. It moves indoors for six weeks after Christmas, with players introduced to futsal, a variant of soccer with a heavy focus on ball skills.
