He’s baseball’s answer to Don Cherry, colourful attire included.
Former Major League catcher Gregg Zaun, MLB and Toronto Blue Jays’ Rogers Sportsnet television analyst – or ‘manalyst,” as he’s referred to by anchors – is coming to Kelowna to talk baseball.
Zaun, a 16-year player and World Series champion, will speak at the Okanagan College Centre for Learning’s Atrium (1000 KLO Road, Kelowna) on Thursday, Jan. 14, from 6:30-10:30 p.m.
Zaun will speak about baseball but particularly the Toronto Blue Jays and their crazy 2015 season.
The Jays snapped baseball’s longest post-season drought (22 years) by winning the American League Division, then triumphed in five games in the AL Divisional Series over the Texas Rangers, highlighted by Blue Jay outfielders Jose Bautista’s emphatic bat flip after a tie-breaking home run.
The Jays lost in six games in the AL Championship Series to the eventual World Series champion Kansas City Royals.
Sportsnet generated ratings of 4.71 million people tuning in to watch the Jays during their chase for a third World Series title.
