Zubot’s hatty sparks Sistas

It was the Andrea Zubot show as she pulled the hat trick for the Sistas (4-6-1).

Susan August’s nice through ball set her up for the first one. Zubot lobbed a ball from 35 yards for the second and finished off the hat trick on a penalty kick.

Down by two, the Controllers’ Leah Mulvihill rang one off the post and in from 15 yards.

Jacquie Nuyens buried a penalty kick after a hand ball to bring the Controllers (5-4-2) within one at half.

Michelle Mercer tied the game in the second half on another penalty kick.

“We were not prepared to play from the start,” said Controllers’ coach Doug Macdonald. “They worked hard, we came back and both teams earned the draw.”

Chick Kickers clobber VQA

The Chick Kickers smoked the Vernon Square Liquor Store VQA 8-0 at Marshall Field #1.

Michelle Johnson was all over the pitch in the first half,  scoring three and assisting on two.

Johnson caught the keeper out of position on her first goal which was a bomb from 40 yards.

Wendy Magnus started up front for the first time for the Kickers (9-1-1) and scored two goals.

Jen Garnett and Mel Jacobs added dueces and Colleen Johnson scored a laser from 18 yards.

Crystal Bergman recorded her fifth shutout of the season.

VQA dropped to 3-7-1.

Dr. Lee pumps Kaos

Dr. Lee/Squires Four Pub waxed The Salmon Arm Kaos 8-0 in Salmon Arm.

Jacquie Hansen’ hat trick and Dana Reid’s pair lifted Dr. Lee (9-0-1) to their fourth straight win.

Hansen got the floss crew on the board with a nice give-and-go down the wing with Deanna Baker.

Hansen then set up Reid for her first of two in the first half.

Hansen completed the hatty on a breakaway from a lob pass from defender Cindy Worth.

Lori Shippy bagged a pair of snipes in the second half from Irene Arrotta’s corner and Jill Rintoul’s cross in the six-yard box. Worth set up Baker on a breakaway to cap the evening, as Lisa Arrotta recorded her ninth shutout.

The Kaos fell to 2-8-1.
