The Village of Burns Lake will move forward with providing a letter of support to the Bulkley Valley Airshed Management Society (BVASM) as it seeks funding for air pollution monitors.

The Lakes Film Appreciation Society (LDFAS) won Bulkley Valley Credit Union's (BVCU) legacy grant in the Lakes District representation area.
The beach volleyball court in Burns Lake, which was approved by the village council last month, is ready for use. The construction on the court began last month and the court is already up and running. The court will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis and is free to use if you bring your own volleyball. Six Nations of Burns Lake organized a healing ceremony called "Every Child Matters", in memory of the 215 children discovered at the Kamloops Residential school. The healing ceremony was held on Friday, July 9 at Spirit Square and attendees were given orange shirts. There was an opening prayer, address by the four clan hereditary chiefs, six nations' chiefs' welcome statements followed by lunch, drumming, presentation to survivors, 2 minutes and 15 seconds silence. Last week proved to be a scary reminder of the 2018 wildfires for several residents in the area. For those, like me, who had not witnessed the 2018 wildfires, last week was a small insight into the devastation that the wildfire caused two years back. Terrifying photos and videos emerging from Lytton, added to the feelings of dread.
Lakeside Multiplex's Camp Phoenix, the kids summer camp for kids aged six years to 12 has begun. The camp, which is filled with activities such as theme days, arts and crafts, games and daily activities, will run until Sept. 3.
