The Kennedy family live in Barriere, and the newest addition to their family is Sofia, the first baby born in the 2012 for the area from McLure to Little Fort. The other gentleman in the photograph is Lea Kuntz recipient of a Special Service Award.   Moore was raised in Barriere and over the years has returned to attend a number of softball games and tournaments in the area.

McLure resident and first class entertainer Gordie West presented an enjoyable afternoon of old time songs and Gospel music at the Pentecostal Church in Barriere on May 24th for a number of Baptist Church goers and area residents.
Seats were almost at a premium during the May 7 annual Mother’s Day Tea and Bazaar at the Barriere Senior’s Hall.  North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Royalty and 2011 Candidates served up the tea to those at the tables, while other folks browsed the craft tables and made purchases.

Artists work and socialize

What better way is there to spend a winter afternoon than to engage in your own hobby while socializing with friends. The “Art Drop In” weekly gathering is just that.  Colleen Lyons says she started the group about two or three years ago. “There are people in Barriere who love to paint and want to improve their skill, and now we have up to 10 members who gather at the NT Volunteer Center in the Ridge every Friday afternoon to relax  and to learn more about painting.”

Medivac chopper still in the sky

A Bell 212 Helicopter, owned by CC Helicopters, has been seen in the skies around Barriere over the past few months a number of times. The chopper is attending on medivac missions to provide emergency medical transport for those in need.
