Race season wrapping up for the Revelstoke Ski Club

There were many personal bests achieved by the racers of the Revelstoke Ski Club this weekend. Three different series took place: the Okanagan zone finals for the kinder and J1 athletes, the western Canadian finals for the FIS athletes, and the Canadian championships for Masters racers.

Revelstoke ski racers compete at nationals

Four Revelstoke athletes recently competed in their national championships – alpine ski racers Mitch Smith, Emily Unterberger, Lachlan Hicks and Alix Petit all raced against the best skiers in the country. Unterberger, Smith and Hicks returned this weekend from the K2 Nationals in Collingwood, Ontario. Petit is just finishing up her eight-day series at the Canadian Championships in Nakiska, Alberta, where she competed against the country’s best – World Cup and Olympic skiers.

Nancy Greene Races let local shredders shine

The Nancy Greene Zone Finals were great fun for all who participated this weekend at RMR. Young skiers came from as far away as Penticton, Kamloops and Vernon to race in a dual GS on Saturday (five to eight-year-olds) and a Kombi on Sunday (nine to 11-year-olds). The races went off without a hitch and the visiting racers (and parents!) got a taste of how lucky we are to have a world-class mountain in our backyard. The Revelstoke Ski Club would like to thank its sponsors and in particular Revelstoke Mountain Resort for all its support in preparation for and during the races.

Revelstoke ski club athletes return home from speed events

Emily Unterberger had a great weekend in Whistler – she came home with two fifth places at the Provincial Speed Championships. Unterberger was close behind two girls from Whistler and two from Fernie in both Super G races. Teammate Shayna Seyl had a strong showing in her first speed event with a 39th, but did not finish the second race.
