The Abbotsford International Airport and the Canadian Business Aviation Association are planning to become very familiar with each other in the next few years.
YXX and the CBAA announced on Monday that the CBAA’s annual Convention and Exhibit is set to come to Abbotsford in August 2017 and 2019.
The event is expected to attract as many as 1,000 delegates and features a roster of international and Canadian speakers, exhibitors, and Canada’s largest static display of private and corporate aircraft.
The convention also takes place just before the annual Abbotsford Airshow and coincides with the Aerospace, Defence and Security Expo held at YXX during that week.
“The fact that we could time our event to both the airshow and expo is sure to be a huge attraction,” said CBAA president and CEO Rudy Toering, in a press release. “Holding three events together gives Canadian aviation an unprecedented level of synergy and focus. The airport facilities are excellent – and we have the full commitment of the city and airport team to make our convention a success.”
Jim Reith, the president of the Abbotsford Airshow Society, said it will be a great combination of events.
“Exhibitors to both the CBAA convention and the ADSE trade show will have access to the airshow both for flying demonstrations and aircraft static displays,” he said.
Toering said Abbotsford will be the ideal spot for the event.
“Abbotsford International Airport is an excellent example of an airport that is integrated with city and community planning that connects a huge number of Canadians, Canadian companies and economic opportunity to the world,” he said. “We are proud to be holding our 2017 and 2019 conferences here.”
