Another Career Fair is on the horizon

Black Press is at it again, setting sail for another Extreme Career Fair in the Courteney, Comox region of Vancouver Island. When Black Press puts together a Career Fair, it’s Extreme.

With over 89 B.C. print publications and a Black Press brand career website, localworkbc.ca, the Black Press Group is an extreme force in the communities it serves. Reaching deep Black Press is the largest media footprint.

On Feb. 9, the Black Press Extreme Career Fair docks in the Comox Valley. The Florence Filberg Centre and Native Sons Hall will be transformed into Vancouver Island’s largest, multi-faceted career exposition, with more than 80 exhibitors showcasing who they are and why they want you!

Extreme Career Fairs are engaging for all; whether you are seeking employment, currently employed and considering a career change, or unsure as to where you want to be in five years. The Black Press Extreme Career Fair will have something to pique your interest.

And when it comes to career fairs, Black Press is an expert in this field. We are expecting 5,000 to 8,000 attendees, from Nanaimo to Port Hardy including local students, grads, unemployed and new career searchers looking for a better or new opportunity. We are investing over $100,000 dollars in marketing through digital and print avenues Island wide.

Marketing that speaks to our Vancouver Island communities, attracting the qualified skilled professionals.

“We have a national recruitment department that centralizes its entire focus around best servicing B.C. businesses and colleges in advertising in our communities, to students and qualified recruits,” said Kristy O’Connor, Black Press manager of digital sales and Career Fair initiatives. “The Extreme Career Fairs is just another great Black Press initiative.”

From employers to post-secondary and industry training booths, there will be a variety of exhibitors offering opportunities in employment, education, and skills upgrading.

Quality Foods, Island Health, Marine Harvest, Canadian Tire and Home Depot to list only a few who are among the dozens of top level employers that will be on hand.

From a training perspective, North Island College, Stenberg College and North Island Employment Foundations Society will have a wealth of information regarding career training, be it for the recently-graduated young adult, or for anyone considering a change in their employment direction.

“Ian Roberts from Marine Harvest will host more than 10 Ted Talk-style presentations from the Island’s top employers throughout the day,” said Dave Hamilton Black Press group publisher, North Island Division.

Transportation shuttles will be offered for anyone in need of travel assistance from outside the Comox Valley.
