Former CKNW radio talk show host Bill Good is confirmed as the emcee and final keynote speaker at the upcoming Fraser Valley Economic Summit on Sept. 9.

Good is one of B.C.’s best-known and respected broadcasters. He was an anchor for CBC’s Evening News for 10 years, Canada Tonight and the CTV Evening News, and was the host of CKNW radio’s the Bill Good Show, which aired every weekday morning. He recently retired from CKNW after 26 years, and this will be his first major engagement since retiring.

Good has an ACTRA award as best radio interviewer in Canada and was recently awarded the Bruce Hutchison Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jack Webster Foundation.

“The City of Abbotsford is thrilled that Mr.Good is participating in this event, both as emcee and as our final keynote speaker. His presence will bring electricity to the event that all the delegates will get to experience since he is present throughout the entire day,” says Mayor Bruce Banman.

Good will give a keynote presentation on the future of media in business, reflecting on how media has changed, the role it plays in business and how media can be leveraged for business.

The summit features two networking sessions during breakfast and lunch where delegates are free to move around the business showcase, which will feature 25 booths from companies all over the Valley.

The event will also include three breakout sessions with featured speakers on topics all related to business in the Fraser Valley. Additional keynote speakers are Ed Fast, minister of international trade; Alvin Law, well-known motivational speaker; Ian Anderson, Kinder Morgan CEO; Dr. Mark Evered, UFV president; and Melanie Reuter, REIN director of research.

“We are looking to the Summit to introduce us to new possibilities in the clean-tech industries. In particular, we are interested in local ideas and projects that are socially and environmentally responsible,” Aird Flavelle, MSA Computers, Red Rhino Networks Inc.
