The largest and longest-running blanket drive in the Lower Mainland kicks off Nov. 14.
The Realtors Care Blanket Drive, launched in 1995, is a one-week effort to collect clothing and blankets to help Lower Mainland residents keep warm in the water.
Since inception, the program has benefited nearly 300,000 people.
This year, donations will be collected Nov. 14-21, then distributed to charities in the same community in which they are received.
“There are people in every community in our region who rely on these donations to help them through the winter,” Dan Morrison, president of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, said in a news release.
“The need is strong and we need the public’s help and generosity again this year.”
Items needed included gently used or new blankets or sleeping bags, coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and new socks and underwear.
Real estate offices across the Lower Mainland – including eight in South Surrey/White Rock – will act as drop-off locations. To find a site, visit www.blanketdrive.ca
