With more and more people shopping online these days, it makes sense for businesses to forgo an expensive storefront. Even now many traditional businesses set up a webpage so customers can buy online, increasing sales without increasing square footage.
However seeing an opportunity, www.scrublovers.com is heading the other way and will be having a grand opening of its first branded store this weekend (May 3 to 5).
It follows a very successful online business established four years ago. In that time the small, ambitious team has nurtured the business through the web and their scrubs can be found in 250 stores across Canada.
It truly is a family affair.
Scrublovers is a mother and daughters based business specializing in creating fashionable, good fitting scrubs for the medical community. Founder and president, Sharon Milbradt is a Kamloops nurse who felt there was a lack of options for those in the medical professions to look and feel good while wearing the necessary uniforms.
She called upon her daughter Brandi-Ann who happens to be a professional clothing designer, and Scrublovers’ online store was born.
The pair needed the business sense of Sharon’s youngest daughter, Jami-Lee. Jami-Lee took the reins of Scrublovers and steered its success through the online market and is spearheading the store opening.
“We are really proud of what we have accomplished so far,” says Jami-Lee.
“However we feel there is a segment who wants to see and feel the scrubs before buying and that’s why we are opening the store. The bonus is the public at large can come check it out too.”
The Milbradts are a talented family team having created some of the most in-demand scrubs in the country.
“We have experienced excellent growth in the online side of our business,” adds Sharon Milbradt. “But we don’t just want a uniform store; we want medical professionals to feel they are coming into a fashion environment that meets their needs.”
For the grand opening, Ultimate Mobile Spa will be in attendance to pamper those medical professionals with manicures and pedicures.
Scrublovers will donate a portion of the sales during the grand opening week to WISH, www.wish-vancouver.org.
The store is at 101 8747 204 St. For more, visit www.scrublovers.com.
