Final preparations are underway for the opening of the new 70,000-square-foot Cabela’s Store on McCallum Road later this month.
Media got a sneak peak at the new location this week, and further previews will take place in the week to come before the official grand opening of the on Thursday, June 23.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony that day will be followed by a weekend-long celebration featuring giveaways, family activities, guest appearances and more.
The store is the chain’s second in British Columbia and is the anchor tenant of the 130,000-square-foot McCallum Junction shopping centre.
According to a press release, “the store is designed to surround customers in an immersive outdoor experience with wood construction, stonework, a large mountain replica, indoor archery range and dozens of museum-quality wildlife displays. It will also include a gun library, firearms counter, conference room, fudge shop, and Bargain Cave.”
The retailer will employ 220 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees, according to the company.
The store’s opening, on June 23, will begin a “weekend-long celebration featuring giveaways, family activities, guest appearances and more,” the company said. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 9:45 a.m., with doors opening at 10 a.m.
