Cedar Valley Manor sod turning Saturday

New Mission seniors housing project sod turning ceremony June 15

With the turn of a shovel the Mission Association for Seniors Housing (MASH) announces the much-anticipated start of construction for Cedar Valley Manor.

The sod turning, scheduled for 11 a.m. June 15, will take place on the site where Mission’s newest housing project, will be built.

Cedar Valley Manor is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication by many local organizations, who saw a need to create a new destination for Mission’s independent, active adults to stay in the community they love.

The project combines four critical elements for successful aging: a building purposefully designed to make life easier for everybody who lives there, with no stairs, no narrow doors or awkward hallways; second, a local non-profit manager (MASH) with years of experience in the housing sector; third, security, not just that the building is safe, but also the sense of security that comes from being part of community of friends and neighbours with shared experiences, plus the financial security guaranteed on a resident’s personal equity, something which can’t be found in the conventional real estate market. And the fourth element, Canada’s first virtual retirement community, called Cedar Valley Manor Connect, will make aging in place that much easier for residents.

The ceremony will take place at 32821 Janzen Ave., just off Cedar Street.
