Armstrong-Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce will host its renamed 2016 Community Excellence Awards May 14

Armstrong’s Centennial Hall will be transformed into the Flamingo Room to celebrate the best in the community.

The Armstrong-Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce will host its renamed 2016 Community Excellence Awards (formerly Business Excellence Awards) May 14, complete with a Vintage Vegas theme.

“This event celebrates the best of our community  with the addition of some new categories,” said Fran Stecyk, chamber of commerce board president.

“There are so many deserving businesses. Make 2016 the year you nominate one of them.”

It will be an evening of networking, presentations, entertainment, casino and refreshments.

Ten awards will be presented throughout the evening:

Rising Star Award (Sponsor: Tekamar Mortgages);

Micro Business of the Year Award (Sponsor: VantageOne Credit Union);

Small Business of the Year Award (Sponsor: Blackwell Building Movers);

Mid-Size Business of the Year Award (Sponsor: Community Futures North Okanagan);

Corporate Business of the Year Award  (Sponsor Hub International Barton Insurance);

Employee of the Year Award (Sponsor: Shepherd’s Home Hardware);

Revitalization and Innovation Award  (Sponsor: Hytec – A Division of Kohler);

Hospitality and Tourism Award (Sponsor: Township of Spallumcheen);

Organization of the Year Award (Sponsor: Okanagan Restoration Services);

Volunteer of the Year Award (Sponsor: City of Armstrong).

Nomination forms are available through the chamber of commerce office, online at aschamber.com and on Facebook.

The deadline for nominations is April 11 at  4 p.m.

Nominees will be announced at the April Business after Business at Shepherds Home Hardware and Outdoor Living Centre. The date is still to be determined.

Tickets for the awards gala are $25 per person and they go on sale March 21 at the chamber office or from board members. Seating is limited to 140 people.
