The Log House in 100 Mile House is welcoming donations for local babies until April 30.
Customers are invited to drop off new baby items, such as clothing, diapers and non-perishable baby food.
Co-owner Elli Meinert says The Log House is pleased to support causes in the community that help people in need and raise awareness about these families.
“If people bring something in, they get 10 per cent off their regularly-priced purchase, and then they get to put their name in for the draw for a free pair of Muck boots.”
The idea is to help ensure all local babies receive the basic necessities required for healthy development, she explains.
“We believe a good start to life is important for every baby and understand that some families and single parents are in need of basics for their children.”
Meinert notes all donations go to Success by 6, a program at the Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre (CFEC).
There is currently a “huge need” for formula and other items in high demand are disposable diapers and baby wipes, she explains.
Noting some people may not have time to pick up something for a baby, Meinert adds The Log House will also accept cash donations on behalf of Success by 6.
Success by 6 program co-ordinator Erica Henderson says all program donations are much appreciated by the parents who really do need them.
“It goes out to the highest risk families in our community.”
