Across Canada, more than $1.3 million was raised for Jumpstart to help local kids in need thanks to the employees of Canadian Tire.

A total of 18,500 kids in Canadian schools will get the opportunity to participate in sport and recreation thanks to the Jumpstart program.

For two weeks, the employees of the Canadian Tire Family of Companies donated, canvassed and hosted fundraisers to support the charity. The company then matched donations.

With a large number of new Canadians attending the schools, most students didn’t know how to skate, and certainly didn’t own a pair of skates to try. Canadian Tire, its employees and Jumpstart have made sure these kids can now participate in one of Canada’s favourite pastimes.
