Businesses will be showcasing their newest and latest products and services at and upcoming trade show in Nanaimo.
On Thursday (Oct. 22) the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 8th annual Business Expo at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre from 11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The expo features a trade show with nearly 100 different small businesses as well as seminars and guest speakers.
“It’s like a shopping mall for businesses and a great place to make a deal,” Kim Smythe, Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer said in a press release.
There will also be a series of guest speakers beginning at 3 p.m. The talks will focus on the subject of entrepreneurial spirit and there will be a workshop on elevator speeches.
Prior to the start of the trade show, the chamber of commerce will be offering a luncheon with author and business coach Clemens Rettich, who will be giving a keynote address focusing on the best time to start a business.
“It’s all about strengthening business friendships and introducing new businesses to the community,” Smythe said.
Following the conclusion of the trade show there will be an an award ceremony and reception at the Coast Bastion Hotel and will include appetizers and refreshments and announcement of the Community Futures Booth Awards winners.
The Business Expo takes place between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Admission is free, however there are costs for attending the various speaking events. The trade show portion of the event takes place between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and the award ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m.
