Go, grannie go: Greta Hofmeister is the new owner of Salmon Arm Go-Karts and Mini Golf.

Greta Hofmeister just wanted some adventure in her life. Then one day, the 80-year-old widow and grandmother of three saw a ‘business for sale’ ad in a Lethbridge newspaper. So she dialed the number, and before she knew it, she was the new owner of Salmon Arm Go-Karts and Mini Golf.

Hofmeister had been living in Fort McLeod and says all she’d been doing lately was complaining about the weather and looking for things to do to keep herself busy.

“Somehow Salmon Arm seemed like a good choice. I’d been there before and it looked like a pretty nice little city. Besides, I figured the weather had to be better.”

Hofmeister has operated a number of businesses in the past and is looking forward to the challenge of operating the Go-karts and Mini Golf.

“It’s certainly going to be different, but I’ve got some ideas,” she says, “and the staff that I’ve already got in place from before, they seem to know what they’re doing, so I think we’ll do pretty good, it’ll be an adventure, anyhow.”
