Housing construction continues to increase in Vernon.
There were 18 housing starts in May compared to 12 during the same month in 2013, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
Of the 18 starts, 17 were single-detached units and there was one multiple unit.
Year-to-date, there have been 83 housing starts in Vernon compared to 68 during the first five months of 2013, says the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
