Mr Mikes SteakhouseCasual has challenged one of America’s most beloved late-night talk show hosts, Jimmy Kimmel, to drink a caesar, Canada’s national cocktail on Canada Day.

Canadians are rallying together in advance of Canada Day to get Kimmel to drink our national cocktail in celebration of our country’s 149th birthday.

Already over a million Canadians have heeded the call to participate in the ‘Caesar Challenge.’

Participation has ranged from watching the challenge video, sending postcards to Kimmel via the www.clamup.ca website, face swapping with Jimmy on Snapchat, and even tweeting Kimmel directly to let him know to step up on Canada Day.

“Our caesar campaign taps into Canadian pride by challenging all Canadians to join the movement to show Jimmy Kimmel and all Americans our love for the caesar,” says Robin Chakrabarti, an owner of RAMMP Hospitality Brands Inc., the company behind Mr Mikes. “The response has been amazing as caesar loving people all across Canada have viewed the video and are excited for our neighbours down south to get to know why our caesar is another great Canadian invention that they’ll love!”

The caesar was invented by a bartender in Calgary in 1969. Unlike the American Bloody Mary, the caesar uses vodka, Motts Clamato juice, Worcestershire sauce and other spices.

More than 350 million caesars are consumed by Canadians every year, which is equal to 10 caesars per person in Canada each year.

Mr Mikes, located at 20020 Willowbrook Dr. in Langley, has three signature caesars including the bacon caesar, which has steak spice, Tabasco and Worcestershire and is garnished with a slice of bacon with a bacon salt rimmed glass.

The ‘Caesar Challenge,’  is set to run from now until July 1, and people are asked to use the hashtag #CaesarChallenge.
