Mission gets grant

Vernon’s Upper Room Mission is receiving assistance from the Valley First Community Endowment.

Vernon’s Upper Room Mission is among 15 non-profits across the Southern Interior to receive a boost from $75,000 in grants from the Valley First Community Endowment.

Funding from the endowment focuses on charities and programs that run food-related programs for at-risk children, youth and families.

“These grants aren’t just about money,” said Seline Kutan, foundation executive director. “They’re about changing lives for vulnerable people in our communities. Our goal is to make a difference in the communities we serve.”

Other recipients include breakfast programs in several regional school districts, Soup Sisters Broth Brothers across the Okanagan, the YMCA of the Okanagan in Kelowna, the Penticton and District Community Resource Society and the Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops.
