Nanaimo’s Coast Bastion Hotel snagged Coast Hotels’ top annual award at its recent brand conference in Whitehorse, Yukon.
General Manager Henry Traa was on hand to proudly accept the accolade, together with colleagues from across Coast Hotels’ network of properties.
The Hotel of the Year is awarded to the property that demonstrates top results and improvement on a number of measures, including revenue generated per available room and the net promoter score – the likelihood a guest will recommend a property to others – which is considered by Coast Hotels to be one of the company’s top measures of success.
Traa, originally from Manitoba, joined Coast Hotels as general manager of the Coast Bastion Hotel in October 2015, bringing 25 years of hospitality leadership experience to the company.
“This award for Hotel of the Year belongs to our amazing team at the Coast Bastion Hotel who do an exceptional job of welcoming our guests every day,” Traa said, in a press release.
“It has been such a pleasure for me to work with them and to become part of the Nanaimo community.”
The Coast Bastion Hotel, located in the heart of downtown, has been a Nanaimo landmark for more than 30 years.
