News, chambers, team up on new visitor’s guide

Combined forces are sure to come up with something extra exciting

PARKSVILLE — The Parksville Qualicum Beach News and the Chambers of Commerce in Parksville and Qualicum Beach announce that they will be working in partnership to produce the 2012 Parksville Qualicum Beach Visitor’s Guide.

The Parksville Qualicum Beach News has independently produced a tourism guide for some years and as Publisher Peter McCully says, “a partnership with the chambers will allow for an expanded guide that will have increased distribution and contain valuable visitor information.”

“The 2012 Guide will be expanded to include a dining guide, as well as accommodations listings and recreational maps.”

Peter Doukakis, CEO of the Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce added, “This regional approach to promoting our community is the key.”

“When we can truly leverage our resources, the community, our members and visitors, become fully aware of all our tourism and business services.”

“The Parksville Qualicum Beach Visitor’s Guide will be open to all advertisers,” McCully said. “Members of both the Parksville District and Qualicum Beach Chambers of Commerce will be offered a discounted rate, a benefit of the partnership.”

All advertisers will be automatically featured with a listing on Oceanside Tourism’s interactive myPQB.ca mobile website — iPhone application.

“Visitors need different information during the various stages of the trip planning process.  Oceanside Tourism’s Travel and Leisure Guide brings visitors to our communities and the updated PQB News / Chamber Guide will help them make the most of their visit when they are here,” says Blain Sepos, Executive Director of Oceanside Tourism.

Distribution of the 25,000 full process colour guides will be through the local chamber visitor centres, local businesses and visitor centres across Vancouver Island.

Executive Director of the Parksville Chamber of Commerce Kim Burden says, “Local partnerships like this provide us with another tool to highlight local businesses for our residents and visitors.”

The Parksville Qualicum Beach Visitor’s Guide will be published in March of 2012.
