Propera Credit Union has been recognized for their efforts with the Prospera Valley GranFondo.
The credit union was honoured by the Marketing Association for Credit Unions (MACU) 23rd annual Achievement in Marketing Excellence Awards (AIME) at the 2013 Strategic Marketing Conference in Whistler recently.
The awards recognize the best and brightest achievements in marketing, advertising and communications within the credit union system.
Prospera Credit Union won an AIME award in the Winning Results, Special Events category for its role in the launch of the Prospera Valley GranFondo, a large scale mass cycling event that attracted 1,200 cyclists and 300 volunteers to its July 2012 event.
The AIME awards are rated on a point system and entries must achieve a score of 85 or higher to win.
The award recognizes how Prospera was able to leverage being the title sponsor of the GranFondo to develop strong employee engagement opportunities (for both volunteers and riders); contribute positively to the communities the credit union serves; garner substantial support for a charitable partner (Special Olympics BC received $20,000) and contribute in a significant way to the creation of a legacy event for the Fraser Valley community.
“As a co-operative enterprise, participating in, and giving back to the community is a big part of Prospera’s success,” said Bruce Howell, president and CEO of Prospera Credit Union about the award. “As the founding and title sponsor of the Prospera Valley GranFondo we are very excited to see so much enthusiasm for this event within the community and also to receive recognition from our peers for a campaign that really captured the hearts and minds of everyone in our organization. GranFondo organizers Canadian Velo Events are to be congratulated for the amazing job they have done in showcasing all that the Fraser Valley has to offer with an event that attracts people of all ages and promotes a healthy, balance lifestyle.”
The second Prospera Valley GranFondo is scheduled for July 21.
