A South Surrey resident studying to be an elementary school teacher will lead a series of skimboarding camps on White Rock Beach this summer.
Alex Dobbie, who founded White Rock Skimboarding in February 2014, said in a news release that eight camps will be held through July and August, with the first starting on July 1.
Designed for boys and girls aged seven to 15, the camps will be held just east of the pier and include water-safety instructions, an introduction to basics and progression to more advanced skimboarding moves.
Dobbie noted two new instructors have joined the team: Scott McIndoe and Chris Stone.
Four- and five-day camps are planned. Cost ($115/$135) includes a T-shirt.
