New South Surrey restaurant, Cora Breakfast and Lunch, officially opened its doors last Wednesday, and three days before, raised more than $4,000 for the local chapter of KidSport BC.
At the grand opening held Feb. 29, Cora owners Ryan Sarafinchan, Sean Song and Jason Coo presented Malik Dillon, the chair of KidSport BC’s Surrey-White Rock chapter, with a cheque for $4,082.50. The funds were raised Feb. 26, at a private event for friends and family.
“It was awesome – well beyond our expectations,” said Dillon of the donation. “I think it’s fantastic that a new business, in a new community, thought to help out a chapter of KidSport that is also fairly new.
KidSport BC is an organization that aims to get youth involved in organized sports by covering up to $200 in registration costs for athletes whose families could not otherwise afford it. Cora’s donation, Dillon pointed out, will cover costs for at least 80 children.
Cora Breakfast and Lunch is located in the Peninsula Village Shopping Centre, at 15355 24 Ave., the former site of Soho Bar and Grill.
