The Zoo now open in Mission

Facility will regularly carry UFC and NHL events on HD TVs

One of downtown Mission’s landmark buildings has been reopened as the Zoo, offering pool tables, vintage pinball machines, karaoke and more.

Manager Jennifer Harrison and her team are determined to run a fun and affordable place.

“It’s going to be an amazing experience,” she said. “People can come in and laugh, sing (karaoke) and drink great, affordable craft beer.”

Aimed at sports junkies and beer enthusiasts, the Zoo will carry UFC fights and full NHL hockey across a bevy of HD LED screens devoted to sports full time.

And there is more to come, according to owner Ken Brookes.

“We have a vision of this property that we hope will begin the rejuvenation of the community. Our plans include a first-class gym and compact design, affordable student rental apartments that include a gym membership,” he said.

Cross fit, spin classes, zumba, yoga, hula-hooping and TRX will be offered in the next phase of the redevelopment in the area previously occupied by the liquor store.

The Zoo is located at the corner of Grand Street and First Avenue. For more information visit thezoobar.ca.
