Tourism in Summerland is continuing to bring visitors to the community, according to statistics from the Summerland Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber manager Christine Petkau said there are around 9,000 visitors a year, according to records from the Visitor Information Centre.

She added that figures from the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association place the estimated value of tourism on Summerland’s economy at $50 million a year.

For 2013, the chamber is working to develop a special tourism website, separate from the chamber’s existing website, to promote tourism opportunities and amenities.
