Trades Training BC launches new website

Folks looking for a career in the trades have a website to turn to

Trades Training BC has launched a redesigned website for British Columbians interested in a career in the trades.

The new site provides access to pertinent information and program schedules so British Columbians can find the right training, in the right location at times that work for them. The site, www.TradesTrainingBC.ca, includes schedules from all 14 public, post-secondary trades training providers that are members of Trades Training BC.

Site visitors can access more than 130 real-time schedules for apprenticeship, foundation, youth and vocational trades training programs at more than 60 locations throughout B.C. There is also the option to search by map to see what programs are offered close to home.

B.C.’s Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation recently released the second edition of the B.C. Labour Market Outlook. This report indicates more than one million job openings are expected in B.C. during the next 10-year period and 78 per cent of those openings will require some post-secondary education or training.

The largest area of demand, 42 per cent of all openings, will be technical, paraprofessional and skilled occupations. These high-demand jobs typically require a college or trade certification.
