Recent upgrades at the Tradex will save the city of Abbotsford $130,000 annually.
The work – which included recycling, rainwater harvesting and a lighting retrofit (relamping and occupancy sensors to ensure lights are off when not needed) – was part of the city’s strategic energy management plan. The improvements were made available through BC Hydro’s Power Smart Partner program, which provides customers access to energy management programs, tools and incentives.
Customers consuming more than four gigawatts a year (enough to power more than 360 B.C. homes for a year) qualify to join the program.
