On Thursday, Oct. 4, Cops for Cancer’s Tour de Valley is stopping at Central City Plaza in Surrey.

To welcome the riders, Coast Capital Savings, in partnership with Blackwood Partners, is hosting a head shave/barbecue over the lunch hour. Three brave men will be losing their locks for the cause: Bruce Duthie, Director, Banking System Solution; Ian Thomas, Vice-President Retail Services; and Ian Maguire, Vice-President Business Process Improvement, Architecture.

The  event takes place Oct. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central City Plaza, 10153 King George Blvd. Riders are set to arrive at approximately 12:10 p.m., with the head shave scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

The Lions Club will be hosting a barbecue, by donation, with proceeds going to Cops for Cancer. For a minimum $5 donation the public can purchase  a burger (beef/veggie) with all the fixings, a bag of chips and a pop – a great deal for a great cause.

There will also be a raffle for a Central City gift basket, valued at $150, for $1 a ticket.

Each fall more than 100 members of law enforcement and emergency services cycle up to two weeks across four regions of British Columbia to support children with cancer and their families through the Canadian Cancer Society.

Donations to Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley are invested in life-saving childhood cancer research and caring support services including Camp Goodtimes, the  summer recreation program for children with cancer and their family.
