University students offered free work space at SquareOne

NANAIMO – SquareOne and Vancouver Island University partner to support entrepreneurial students with work space and ideas development.

Vancouver Island University students with ideas for launching businesses or starting a new enterprises can now apply for no-cost co-op work spaces through a new partnership between the university and SquareOne, Nanaimo’s downtown tech incubator and co-working hub.

Three work spaces will be offered to students who successfully apply to SquareOne with details about their idea.

SquareOne offers work spaces with desk, chair, file cabinet, wireless and hardwired Internet service, plus access to printing, scanning and fax service. Students will also find a supportive environment, valuable business resources, and a network of like-minded people working on ideas and sharing expertise.

The idea for the partnership came up when the university and community business partners held the first-ever VIU Student Business Plan Competition last fall.
